Hey. Remember when I posted about this Fitness Tumblr (Back on Pointe) or my smoothie post (Green Monster)? I was all I haven’t exercised but I need to. Well, I have been. Not a lot. It’s a start though. I’m sure most of you have heard of Fitocracy. I can be slow sometimes.
I downloaded the App on my iPhone and I haven’t looked back. Fitocracy makes exercising like a game by giving you points and levels. Plus, a little robot guy is all “you’re awesome” and I’m like “yeah, little robot guy, I sort of am.” If I was doing some cardio, I think he’d be a very supportive robot but I haven’t been able to get to the treadmill. I’ve been really focusing on squats and planks. They are easy for me to do in intervals while still playing with my monster.

This is Fred. He’s the friendly robot that says nice things to me and every other Fito Member too, I’m sure ![]()
The app is a social network that let’s you connect with Facebook and Twitter ( I don’t). The are thousands upon thousands of people in the network. Ask a question and you will get an almost immediate response. People are fantastic sometimes, yeah? Yeah. AND really cool people will give you props for your workouts. Which is basically a FB like or a twitter star, BUT IT’S STILL AWESOME. I don’t really follow too many people (i’m not sure how or who to follow).
I’m still very new and working out the intricacies of the app (which also has a website/blog. Did I mention that?) As far as motivation goes, this app has it. I am a definite fan. There are a ton of different groups ti join as well. Like the MILF group (yes!) or Reddit’s Loseit group. Really, there are tons. I’m still working through the best ways to find them (other than asking).
If you are really keen on the old social media, you may really like Fitocracy. I absolutely recommend it to people who need that extra bit of motivation. Like me. I can do those Back on Pointe workouts and really enjoy them but I also find it really easy to be like blah blah blah and then sit on my ass. Now, I can do the Back on Pointe Workouts and get points for it. (I’m so easily amused that imaginary points are this worth it to me… )
Whatever, I think it’s a lot of fun. My username is djbw if you want to find me.
xo.
I think I’ll check it out! I also “want to, but haven’t” exercised in a while… New Year fitness, here I come!
I’ve really enjoyed it so far – there have been a few glitches in the app but the website is fine. Plus, people are really supportive!
Thanks for sharing this! I’m givign it a try!
