Hello! Here is another DIY! YAY!

Glitzy shoes

Last year, for my beautiful cousin’s wedding, I bought some sweet, silvery, grey pumps by Madden Girl. I loved them. I wore them all the time. The leather (or whatever) at the toes and on the heels started to peel a bit. It became far too noticeable for my liking…. AND THEN I SAW THIS:

Oh hello, Sweetie. You are a glitter genius. Thank you very much.

So, I followed her tutorial but changed things up a bit.

*The base color of my shoes was fine – no paint necessary.

Here is all my stuff:

my glitter shoe stuff

I mixed up ALL the glitter I had and it turned out like this:

MAH GLITTTTTTTERRRRRRR!

Then I took my DIY’ed mod podge (recipe below) and mixed the glitter right in to make a very thick, glittery paste. I think this is easier than pressing the glitter on in small amounts. It is, however, your call.

My handy sponge brush acted as the perfect application tool. I did throw the plastic bags in the shoes so that I didn’t end up with a ton of glitter in there.  Just paint the glitter paste on your shoes – Make sure to do it in THIN LAYERS. Watch out for chunky spots. We don’t want our fantastic shoes *looking* like a DIY project! We want them looking like they cost a shit ton of money and we are amazing. Duh.

Note the bags – It looks a little “milky” when you apply the glitter paste, but it will dry clear.

Once the shoe is covered, let it dry. Remember, you can always add more layers of glitter later.  Especially if you mix your *mod podge and glitter in a small resealable container!!!

Once dried, use a small dry paintbrush to dust away any excess glitter.

I’ve already worn these a bunch of times and the glitter has held up great – PLUS, there isn’t glitter all over the floors as I walk away!

The final and most spectacular step in this DIY tutorial is to wear the shit our of your new GLITTER shoes! New Year’s Celebration anyone?

Glitter Toes

OH YES!!!

*DIY mod podge – seriously – this is what I used. 1 part white craft glue to 1 part water. Yep, equal parts of each – put it in a jar and shake, shake, shake!! Do with it what you would do with a basic decoupage medium…. It’s that easy and that AWESOME.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If you try these, you must let me know how they turn out! I want pictures! XO
